Lu mien Language

The Lu Mien language is spoken by the Lu Mein people living in China where they are considered as a group of the Yao people. It is also spoken in Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos and now some people living in the United States are also speaking Lu Mien. Just like other Mien languages, it is Monosyllabic and a tonal language.

The standard dialects which are spoken in china are Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County, Changdong, and Guangxi. The Lu Mein people speak these standard dialects in the west, but since the majority of them are refugees from Laos, hence their dialects include influences from the Thai and the Lao languages. Moreover, Lu Mein is closely related with Kim Mun and 70% with Biao-Jiao Mien, and 61% similar with Dzao Min. there are mainly seven dialects of Lu Mien. The dialects vary by clan and geographic location.
